I chose this comic strip because it shows you that in todays society that you can do a lot of things through apps on your phone and you don't really need any other sources like the tv for the news or the newspaper to see what has been happening in your neighborhood. It shows kind of how much "lazier" we are as a society because we use our phones for almost everything. It kind of also gives a "sexist" appeal to it because they are going to their mom instead of their dad for things like cleaning things and their laundry. In todays culture most kids think that their parents will do everything for them and they don't have as many responsibilities as kids used to even 15 years ago.
Great point on the effects of technology, gender, and community. We will return to this theme and idea on our unit on technology in American culture.
